The Gordian Knot

The background story (Wikipedia): “An oracle had declared that any man who could unravel the elaborate Gordian knots was destined to become ruler of all of Asia. Alexander the Great wanted to untie the knot but struggled to do so without success. He then reasoned that it would make no difference how the knot was loosed, so he drew his sword and sliced it in half with a single stroke.

It is often used as a metaphor for an intractable problem (disentangling an “impossible” knot) solved easily by finding a loophole or thinking creatively (“cutting the Gordian knot”).”

When we examine the different aspects of life today, we find everywhere Gordian knots together with “experts” and normal people who try to untie them without any success. Quite the contrary, the knots get even more complex without any prospect of solving them ever.

The only solution is to really cut the knots like Alexander the Great did it.

People lose so much precious energy, time and effort in trying to untie the problems of today instead of looking for solutions beyond the knots. We are raised and conditioned to have a problem awareness without a target orientation. This is a negative conditioning which makes depressive, which paralyzes and does not help in any way.

It is like standing in a desert and wasting time with blaming God and creation that there is no water, getting deeply depressed, putting endless effort and thinking about why there is no water and who is guilty instead of just leaving the desert for a fertile land with plenty of water.

There is no higher law that says that we must suffer endlessly by staying in a stupid situation. In fact, it is all about making necessary, beneficial changes quickly.

These are general aspects and typical human problems. But I also want to point at “eternal” questions and problems. I often see discussions on YouTube or on Facebook where people try to clarify who is good, who is evil, who is right and who is wrong, where this or that tradition or knowledge comes from, where relations are and so on. In these discussions people refer to experts, to books, to holy books, to holy people, to things which God has said, to opinions, theories, stereotypes and whatever. These things might have some personal meaning but, in the end, they show that there is no absolute knowledge, no absolute meaning available and verifiable. Besides these aspects, an initiate can see all the illogical ideas, the misunderstandings and the shortcomings in the discussions. These are all Gordian knots which can never be untied, solved or answered.

Again, the point here is to release the idea of having to untie them and to switch to a new point of view where the knots are left as they are and a new focus is set on what is really important, on targets, on things which make sense.

Indeed it is all about to separate darkness from light, to evaluate ideas, to neglect the bad things and to support the good things for the benefit of all.

This includes also to give up certain old structures and beliefs, to liberate oneself and to be able to use this new freedom is a positive way.

People stay easily imprisoned by old structures. Even when they see that it is not good, they prefer to stay because of fears and the idea of security and stability.

It is similar with buying a boat for much money (effort) and then you see that it has countless holes, but you want to keep it because of your high expenses. (Just imagine here that you became a member of a certain religion or secret society and after years you discover that it is built on lies and half-truths but as you are a set member now after lots of time and effort, you prefer to stay.)

In conclusion, it is a waste of time, in best case a satisfying personal entertainment program to try to untie Gordian knots. These can be discussions on Facebook or wherever. It makes more sense to ask what is wise? And then to use the keys of wisdom to focus on finding solutions, on separating light from darkness, quality from quantity, knowledge from nonsense, etc.

Cut the Gordian knots in your life and liberate yourself!

Become a man or woman of wisdom!
